May 26th – Piscassic River, Newmarket – Take Route 108 into Newmarket (from North or South) and turn onto Elm St– the Newmarket Library is on this street. Take Elm St. about 1/3-1/2 mile up & over a hill to Beech St. Turn right onto Beech. Take a right at the end of Beech onto Salmon St. Salmon St. curves past several apt. buildings. Turn right onto Piscassic St. at the Twin Rivers Condo complex. The launch is at the end of the street. Please be sure to rinse your boat before and after each freshwater paddle to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species!
June 9th – Exeter River, Exeter- from Gilman Park. In downtown Exeter take Route 108 South. Go .7 mile, passing through Phillips Exeter Academy. Turn left onto Bell Ave just after a bridge. The boat launch is approx .3 mile down the road/bearing left. The launch is across from a ballfield. Please be sure to rinse your boat before and after each freshwater paddle to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species!
June 23rd – Merrymeeting River – Alton/New Durham From Route 16/Spaulding Tpke, take exit 15 to Route 11 north. Follow Route 11 for 16 miles to Alton. After crossing Old Route 11 and a small bridge, boat access will be on your left. There is a sign for Merrymeeting Marsh and a good size parking area tucked into the trees. A beautiful paddle, no current. A favorite! Please be sure to rinse your boat before and after each freshwater paddle to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species!
July 7th – Swains Lake, Barrington. From Route 9, take Young Road (there is a brown sign for a boat launch). Follow Young Road to the public boat launch (parking on the right). A flat water paddle. Please be sure to rinse your boat before and after each freshwater paddle to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species!
July 21st – Peirce Island, Portsmouth NH – Address is 200 Peirce Island Rd, located off Marcy St near Prescott Park. This is a low tide paddle. Booth is manned until around 6pm. There may or may not be a fee ($10 per car?) depending if someone is there to collect. Arriving after 6pm is ideal.
August 4th – Salmon Falls – Berwick launch – 116 Rochester St, Berwick, ME 03901 – Non-tidal segment of the Salmon Falls River. (Berwick Landing, approx. 116 Rochester Street, Berwick) We launch from a very nice launch spot on the left side of Rochester Street when coming from the direction of Somersworth /Route 9 in NH. It is .6 miles on Rochester St. from the Route 9 bridge that crosses the river at the Maine/NH state border. There is a fancy ramp for launching- note that it takes a little longer to get everyone in as it will be one boat at a time. Please be sure to rinse your boat before and after each freshwater paddle to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species!
August 18th – New Castle/Back Channel. Portsmouth Ave, New Castle, Route 1B. Coming from South St. in Portsmouth, take 1B to the north side of New Castle. The launch area is on the right after the second bridge. If you come to the Kittery Point Yacht Club on the left or a cemetery on your right (a good option for extra parking) you have gone too far. Small parking area at launch.
August 25th – BBQ to follow! Note: Earlier start time – 6:00pm and BBQ after! Salmon Falls River, Rollinsford (just over the South Berwick town line) Public boat launch. From Portsmouth take Rte 236 North in to the center of South Berwick. Follow Rte 236 through South Berwick and take a left on Main St. Follow Main St for about 1/2 miles, once you cross over Salmon Fall River, take a slight right on to Scoutland Rd. Bicentennial Park will be ahead on your right.
From Dover take Rte 4 East towards South Berwick. Take a left on to Rte 236 North in to the center of South Berwick. Follow Rte 236 through South Berwick and take a left on Main St. Follow Main St for about 1/2 miles, once you cross over Salmon Fall River, take a slight right on to Scoutland Rd. Bicentennial Park will be ahead on your right. Fogarty’s Restaurant is just down the road on Main St if you are looking for reference point on your GPS. Mike has invited us to his place about 5 mins from the put-in, for an after paddle BBQ – bring what you want to grill and an appetizer, side or dessert to share!
